time and there did not seem to be much benefit from being there. The commission agreed to see
if the Westside Flea would be interested in partnering in a different capacity for the event.
Friday Night Mics
Kim reached out to Springvale to see what dates are available. The best date would be August
21st which would not conflict with anything else going on for the commission and in the
community. Kim will reach out to Laura to see if she is available. Wilma was concerned about
having enough volunteers for all of the events that are going on, Leah agreed. Janelle thought the
event would be worth having again to see how it goes since the last event had a good turnout and
it was the first one held outside. Some people thought more focus should be on Party in the Park
but some liked being able to showcase local talent that is not as widely known. Keith suggested
adding more time to the event and Leah thought the food was pretty easy. Kim thought it may be
easier to have Springvale handle the food and the bar, which would ease the burden on the
commission members.
2020 Event Budget
Kim reviewed the draft budget and asked for any suggestions of purchases the commission may
need. Sue thought the commission was able to accomplish a lot with a limited budget. Leah
thought having yoga in the park was valuable but Jackie was concerned because the attendance
was declining and the same people tended to get stuck helping with the event. Kim will reach out
to the Rec Center to see if they would be interested in providing yoga in the park. Kim did not
think many people go to the city's website to see the events that are going on, but people seem to
respond to the Celebrate North Olmsted e -newsletter that goes out.
Community Council Update
Wilma said the last general meeting was January 28th. A $500 donation was earmarked for the
Arts Commission to put towards holiday decorations. When the commission knows what they
need, they can submit a request for the check. The theme for this year's Homecoming festival
will be "Celebrating 75 Years of Community Service."
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Sde Collander, Chair
Approved: Shol 2020
icole Ra o -Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
