ARTS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OFJUNE 17, 2020 <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. via online public meeting. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, .Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Bryan O'Malley Stephanie Procter, Leah <br />Rogalski-Davis, Janelle Zaner-Hoffart <br />Absent Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Laura Sin m <br />Staff: Planning Director Kim Lieber, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo -Ackerman <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Jackie moved, seconded by Leah, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of May 21), <br />2020, motion passed 6-0. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Buttermut Ridge P sleet Park <br />City Council approved moving for with the project at their last meeting. $10,000 in donations <br />were received from generous members of the oornmunity so no city funds will be used for the <br />project The contract with the artist will be signed once the resolution goes into effect in July. In <br />the meantime, the artist is coordinating with the City Engineer do finalize the site plan for <br />Cuing tbee review. <br />Wishing Wall <br />Markers and ribbons will be left for the comm pity to wale their wishes and dream on and add <br />then to the fence along the bike path by the Oxcart Pantry. The ribbons will be visible from <br />Buttem rt Ridge Road and is anticipated to start on June 26*. Sue is working on the banner <br />design and decorating an old mailbox to hold the supplies. Jackie is testing markers and types of <br />ribbon and thinks this will be a fun installation involving the oormxmity. It can also be a stoop for <br />the scavenger hunt <br />Art contest <br />The contest theme will be "Life is Good in North Olmsted" and submissions will be broken <br />down by age and media types. Keith is working on finding judges lo look at the content of the <br />submissions and the committee wi I I help judge them overall. The deadline wi 11 be in August <br />before school is back He plans to reach out to local businesses in the art industry to see if they <br />would be willing fig donate prizes to encourage the young artists and promote their businesses. <br />The winners could be shown in another virtual art gallery and could have a different background <br />ID further differentiate it from the Veterans Art Gallery. <br />Scavenger Hunt <br />The scavenger hunt wi I I be hosted on the Celebrate North Olmsted Faceboo page for two weeks <br />in July. Each day a prompt will be posted and the community members can share their photos. <br />The prompts will be open-ended so the responses will be able to highlight more of the city and <br />
