ARTS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF JANUARY 20, 2021 <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. via online public meeting. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Janelle Zauner-Hoffart, Bryan O'Malley <br />Absent: Sue Collander, Stephanie Procter <br />Staff. Planning Director Kim Lieber, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo -Ackerman <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Bryan moved, seconded by Leah, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of December 16, <br />2020, motion passed 4-0. <br />COMMISSION ORGANIZATION <br />Bryan nominated Keith for Chair and Leah for Vice Chair. Keith suggested waiting until the next <br />meeting to ensure the absent members are not interested in the positions before voting. Leah <br />reminded everyone about prior discussion to rotate commission leadership to encourage fresh <br />ideas in the group. <br />Keith moved, seconded by Bryan, to table the 2021 Chair and Vice Chair nominations until <br />the next meeting, motion passed 4-0. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Butternut Ridge Pocket Park <br />Kim said the artist is hoping to complete the art by mid-February. The Parks & Recreation staff <br />are looking at signage options. So far, it seems like a slightly tilted plaque would be best to <br />highlight the donors and include an explanation of the artwork. Concepts will be presented to the <br />committee for approval. There have been some equipment issues in the sign shop, but the <br />streetscape banners will be ready by the springtime. The issue with the dead tree along the <br />property line is still being addressed. <br />Light Up the Nights <br />Kim wanted to have the event again next year. Janelle suggested incorporating a contest similar <br />to the Halloween Decorating Contest but have the community vote on their favorite displays. <br />Kim thought a small prize could be offered but the focus should be on getting residents out in the <br />community and enjoying the displays. Leah thought similar extra activities could be included <br />again. Discussion about the need to track how many people utilize the map next year. Kim <br />suggested asking participants to submit photos so residents can look at the photos ahead of time. <br />Keith thought viewers could use Google photos with their geolocations attached to vote for their <br />favorite displays. Leah suggested encouraging a block to do a coordinated display. <br />Hug in a Mug at St. Richard Apartments <br />
