Parks and
Recreation is looking at options for permanent signage to recognize Kiwanis, the grant funders
and donors.
Trek at the Rec
Bryan thought the families that attended were very appreciative that the event was held. The
stormy weather ended the event early but a good time seemed to be had by all. He was impressed
by how well organized the event was.
Halloween Decoratiniz Contest
A total of 17 entries were submitted for the contest. Keith thought it was interesting to see the
wide range in displays. There were different themes and some displays that were better when
viewed at night and others that were better when viewed during the day. The judging committee
unanimously agreed on the winner. Leah thought it was well-received by the community and was
low maintenance for the Commission to execute. She wanted to do the event again next year, Sue
and Kim agreed. If the event is held again, there are some things that the Commission could
consider. A time should be designated for judging so entrants can make sure to have their
displays fully operational. Public voting could be incorporated in the judging. A discussion
should be had if the same winner would be allowed to win multiple years with the same display.
Veterans Art Gallery
The art gallery was shared at the beginning of October. Articles in the West Life and
Cleveland.com helped share some of the veterans' stories and add context to the artwork. Nicole
thought the amount of people interacting with the Celebrate Facebook post was low but there
