not conflict with the First Amendment. Kim would like to have the guide adopted before the first
mural is ready to proceed.
Summer in the City
Kim shared the tentative summer schedule for Summer in the City events. Parks & Recreation
staff are excited to be able to have events again even though they will be smaller to ensure social
distancing. Ideas include Yoga in the Park, Westside Flea, Movie in the Park, a car show and a
bike ride along the bike path. Parks & Recreation asked the Commission to work on a music
event and to assist with the bike event. Leah thought a music event would be possible at the end
of the summer and wanted to plan more as social distancing guidelines change over the next few
months. Kim pointed out that alcohol-related events like Party in the Park take more advanced
planning so it would be difficult to plan. Staff will see if July 24 and 31 are available for a music
event ahead of the next meeting and a final date to decide whether or not alcohol will be included
will be determined. Leah suggested doing a "time warp" theme with a band that plays different
eras of music throughout the event. Kim also suggested doing an event with the School of Rock
at some point during the summer. Bryan suggested displaying some student artwork at an event
but Kim pointed out the challenges with coordinating student artwork so close to the beginning
of the school year. Kim asked the Commission if they would be interested in doing the Veterans
Art Show as a live event this fall and they were interested.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
K ith Kehrendt, Chair
Approved: 1-%/Z(
Nicole ambo -Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
