Bill Malumphy, 5425 Dorothy Drive, said the fence is a vast improvement from the previous
fence. The sidewalk could not be used when blocked by the bushes and the property looks much
better since the bushes have been removed.
Mr. Mackey objected to the fence being built without a permit and the regulations not being
followed. He did not think paint or stain would improve the fence to his satisfaction. Mr. Rahm
agreed that the fence being installed without a permit is frustrating but the neighbors seem to
agree that it is an upgrade. Ms. Patton said it is a challenge to look at proposals that have already
been built. She did not think it negatively impacted the visibility of the neighborhood due to the
curve of the street and improves sidewalk access. Mr. Papotto said the bushes would have
provided privacy for the patio. The fence is shorter than the existing fence to the west of the
property and looks better. The most impacted neighbors commented in favor of the project and
the applicant covering the fence joints will improve the appearance.
Mr. Papotto moved, seconded by Mr. Mackey, to approve the following variance for 21-
20277; Alyssa Hansinger; 5508 Decker Road:
1. An 18 ft. 2 in. (approximate) variance for setback of a fence on a corner lot in the side
and rear yards abutting a side street; code requires 20 ft., applicant shows
approximately 1 ft. 10 in., Section 1135.02(D)(3). Note: The fence is a 4 ft. 5 in. high
solid board fence.
Motion passed 5-0.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
c
Eric Allain, hair
Approved:
Nicole Rambo -Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
