Details will need to be finalized at the September meeting. <br />North Olmsted Noel <br />Staff has begun planning for Noel with Parks & Rec and Springvale. The event will be on <br />Sunday, December 5 from 2 to 5 PM. Santa has been reserved and will be in the Heritage Room <br />so the line can be in the Ballroom. Cleveland Brassworks has been reserved and will play in the <br />Ballroom. Keith suggested confirming the amount of space needed for the band ahead of time in <br />case the stage is not large enough. The Oxcart Pantry would like desserts to be collected during <br />the event. The Clubhouse can be used for a kids' area with a couple activities for them to do. Hot <br />chocolate will be served in the pavilion with some carolers for entertainment. Keith will reach <br />out to his church to see if they have a contact to see if a reindeer can be secured for the event. <br />Springvale will be in charge of decorating the space. Leah suggested using different themes for <br />each space, possibly using reindeer names. The potential exists to have food trucks outside or a <br />few vendors in the Ballroom. Commission members were interested in having a face painter, <br />balloon bender and magician at the event. Ken suggested having a cookie decorating contest that <br />residents could enter and attendees can vote on. The sled dogs may be able to go in the golf cart <br />area if there are no reindeer. Keith, Leah and Janelle volunteered to be on the planning <br />committee. The Commission decided not to do the Holiday Lights map again. <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />Since the City Hall lobby was renovated, the ongoing City Hall Art Gallery would be difficult to <br />have open to the public. Keith liked having virtual galleries available. Susan suggested using a <br />vacant storefront which could generate more interest in the property and showcase artists at the <br />same time. Leah would like to have the Mayor's Art Show at Old Town Hall again. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />General Announcements <br />The Commission members and guests were encouraged to start thinking about event ideas for <br />next year. Budget discussions will need to be done during the October meeting to be included in <br />the city budget preparation. As for the new members, Kim said the Mayor's office has submitted <br />their nominations to City Council for approval and she anticipates their approval before the next <br />meeting.
