signal at Walter and Lorain were addressed. The necessity for changing signal phasing was <br />confirmed, and it was assured that plans would be shared before implementation. Safety <br />concerns for students walking to school were acknowledged, and the upcoming SRTS program <br />was highlighted to address such concerns and present recommendations for crosswalk, signal <br />timing and other safety measures. Mr. Shymske inquired about the expectations regarding the <br />number of students arriving by bus versus those brought in by family- members. Superintendent <br />Brand explained the challenge of predicting exact numbers due to individual family choices. The <br />consolidation allows more students living a mile and a half or more away to be eligible for bus <br />transportation, contributing to the effort of upgrading the fleet and recruiting additional drivers. <br />Mr. Olivos inquired about the possibility of implementing guidelines from the Lorain Road <br />Study. specifically focusing on removing electrical lines in the front of the school building. He <br />suggested exploring the idea of going underground, potentially as a pilot program. to enhance the <br />aesthetics. Mr. Upton shared the ongoing conversation involves discussion with City Council <br />regarding funding constraints and the citizens' allocated funds through the levy. The proposal <br />aligns with the idea of creating an intriguing pilot area for undergrounding power lines, <br />acknowledging budget considerations. <br />Board members discussed concerns related to environmental impact. traffic flow. light pollution. <br />and clear signage. It was determined that lighting and signage would be before the board in <br />phase III. Considerations for preserving the trees behind the fire station faced challenges due to <br />storm water drainage and safety- requirements, including the need for clear views and <br />surveillance around the school building. <br />Mr. David moved to recommend approval to council of Phase I of case 26012-PO10-1, the PK -5 <br />school on Lorain Road; seconded by Mr. Marrie. <br />Motion passed: 6-0 <br />Mr. David moved to table Phase II of case 26012-PO10-1 PK -5 school on Lorain Road: seconded <br />by Mr. Olivos. <br />Motion Passed: 6-0 <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Upton invited the board members for the next focus groups for the 2025 Comp Plan. The <br />meeting will take place on March 21 ". which involves Housing and Development.
