Where I can be impatient with benefit from being more even-tempered. I'm not sure where that's
coming from. In addition, he tends to be critical of others, impacting his ability to be seen as
relatable.
His crutality also hurts his ability to be persuasive. I'm not sure where those comments come from. I
was never asked about being, when I mentioned being critical or being direct, I was asked about
being impatient.
I gave an explanation. In this line of work, police work, as a leader, they're all leaders back here, to
include the captain. There's times you need to be critical, you need to be direct.
Right? But you always change it to a learning experience. Right?
And I feel that I was misrepresented in this category of maintaining a strong relationship based on
everything I told you. I read a lot, probably hard to follow. I can get you whatever you need.
I have copies. And I appreciate if you consider my protests and the reasons why. Again, this has
nothing to do with Captain Wallings.
She did great on the test. I applaud her for it. But I have issues in that category for myself.
Thank you, Madam Chair. Sorry, it was long-winded.
Asst. Law Director O'Malley:
No, you're fine. Thank you. So, Madam Chair, that's an opening statement followed by testimony
with an exhibit offered.
Unless there's an objection to the exhibit, I think that it can be admitted for what it's worth. At this
point, you should invite any cross-examination that the Safety Director or Captain Walling may
have of the, we'll call him the appellant.
Commissioner Flannery:
So moved. And I will start with Director Scofield.
Public Safety Director Scofield:
In all do fairness, I was not told I would be here to cross-examine anyone. So I have no questions.
Okay.
Or need any clarification on what's been presented.
Asst. Law Director O'Malley:
And of course, the members of the Commission can ask questions of the witness.
Commissioner Flannery:
And Captain Walling.
Captain Angel Walling:
Thank you, Madam Chair. With regards to the subject matter experts, did we have a conversation
about that part of the test as well?
Barrett?
Lieutenant Barrett:
I'm sorry?
