North Olmsted Arts Commission <br /> Minutes of the Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Meeting <br /> 6:30 P.M. Old Town Hall <br /> Present: Frank Boulton; Becky Tesar; Keith Behrendt; Mark Mallet Bryan O'Malley; <br /> Susan Begin and Rick Haase. <br /> Absent: Nahid Parsipour; Tania Moh and Lori Kershner. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Roll call was taken. <br /> The minutes from the Tuesday, February 20, 2024 meeting were unanimously <br /> approved. <br /> Rick Haase gave a brief recap of the 2024 Mayor's Art Show. Largest opening night <br /> reception (over 100 guests). Largest number of student artworks on exhibit— 100 <br /> pieces. <br /> A discussion of ideas and vision for the group moving forward was led by Chair Frank <br /> Boulton. He began by saying that he will compile a report of the Chairman's activities <br /> and present it to the group monthly. He will work to improve and streamline <br /> recordkeeping, placing all documents on a jump drive for clarity and organization. <br /> 1). Frank attended the Mayor's State of the City Address, as well as the Cardboard <br /> Boat Races held recently at the North Olmsted Recreation Center, representing the <br /> North Olmsted Arts Commission. <br /> 2). He devised a Sign-up Genius schedule for volunteers for the Mayor's Art Show, <br /> which was extremely well received. <br /> 3). He met briefly with Jason Krucek, Chair of the High School Art Department, and <br /> continues meetings and making contacts as the Chair of the group. <br /> Chairman Boulton asked what the process for approvals of artwork and other <br /> installations was between the City and the Arts Commission, referencing the City's new <br /> gateway at the entrance to 1-480.. He intends to meet soon with Director of Economic <br /> and Community Development Max Upton to discuss said process and to further more <br /> open communication between the City and the NOAC. Assistant Law Director Bryan <br /> O'Malley said he would work with the group and the City to enforce the necessary <br /> requirements as per the rules govnerning the NOAC. <br /> Mr. O'Malley said he would investigate and explore the establishment of a 501 c 3 <br /> status for the NOAC after Chair Boulton said that we need as a group to work to obtain <br /> additional funding for the NOAC to allow the group to "do the things we need to do." <br />
