CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />MINiJTES -OCTOBER 5, 1988 <br />Chairman Remmel called the meeting to order at 7;35 p.m. <br />Present: R. Bugala, R. Gomersall, J. Helon, and C. Remmel <br />Absent: B. Grace <br />Also present: Law Director M, Gareau, Building Commissioner D. Conway, and <br />Clerk of Commissions B. Oring. <br />R. Bug'ala moved to approve the minutes of September 7, 1988 as written, <br />seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved, <br />Chairman Remmel advised that item number 8, Ldayne McKee, has been withdrawn. <br />1. Marvin and Karen Stotz, 23968 Maple Ridge Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 15 foot 4 inch variance for dis.tance <br />between screened porch and garage. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02(c)1. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Pumo, Mrs. Stotz's father, and Mr. and Mrs. Kolach, " <br />neighbors, who are concerned since this is so large it will practically be one <br />contir.uous wall from the house to the garage. Chairman Remmel agreed that the <br />32 foot by 20 foot structure is large. Mr. Kolach also believed that Mr. Stotz <br />also intends to continue a covered walkway to the garage from the porch. He <br />was advised that this would require a separate variance. Mr. Pumo stated -that <br />the porch would only be screened, it was not a solid wall. Mr. Bugala would <br />like this request continued until the owners are present to discuss some sort <br />of compromise. C. Remmel moved to continue this request until November 2, 1988, <br />seconded by R. Bugala, and unanimously approved. Request continued. <br />2, Horizons Savings, 26777 Lorain Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 10 square foot variance to add to <br />existing pole sign. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(f)-4. Also <br />request 153.77 square foot variance for toLal sign area (includes pole and <br />wall signs). Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(d). <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to J. Schneider, Simon Signs, and R. Mitrisin, Horizon's Savings. <br />Building Commissioner Conway explained that they have permits for all the <br />signage which meets code and the existing computerized pole sign is.conforming. <br />rir. Schneider and Mr. Mitrisin explained that they are requesting to install <br />a money market sign on the pole sign! to nlace a sign on the east wall which <br />faces the shogping center; and to repaint an existing sign on Lorain Road. <br />Mr. Bugala does not believe-they need the sign on the east wall. C. Remmel <br />moved to grant the 10 square foot variance to add to the existing pole sign <br />and also the total variance of 153.77 square foot'for total sign area including <br />the pole and wall signs for Horizons Savings, seconded by R. Gomersall. Roll <br />call on motion: Remmel, Gomersall, and Helon, yes. Mr. Bugala, no. Motion <br />carried. Variance granted. <br />3. North Olmsted Assembly of God Church, 3874 Columbia Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 1 foot height variance for fence. <br />Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02-(h)1.
