BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Rini's Supermarket, 23100 Lorain Road
Propcsal for exterior renovation to existing building.
Heard by Architectural Board of Reviaw November 22, 1989.
Building Commissioner Conway presented the previous plans for the property
• that were approved when the cooler was added. He advised that his inspec-
tion revealed that the fence was in fairly good repair, but did neeci some
maintenance: the wood fence was secure and bolted down; the chain link
fence did have some slats missing; and the coat hangers used to secure the
chain link fence could be replaced. Chairman Thomas read a letter from
Rini Realty to Mr. Draeger (see attached) confirming the repairs that
would be made. Mr. Betts questioned the statement that these repairs
would be made within 30 days of the City's approval of this proposal
since Mr. Draeger had previously stated that all repairs would be made
within.30 days. Mr. Draeger stated that this should be approved in the
next week or two sa the repairs woulci be completed within 30 days from
that time, Mr. Gorris studied the minutes from the approval of the cooler
and pointed out that there were 12 parking spaces which were to be removed
with that approval and aparently these had never been removed. Mr. Draeger
responded that this area was not striped, but cars did park there. He
explained that they will be putting bumper blocks in this area about
4 feet off of the pavement in front of tne truck dock area (item number 1
of the letter) in order to prevent trucks hitting the fence and they will
post no parking signs. He believes that employees are the main people
who park there and the management will attempt to stop them. He agreed
that cars in that area did make it difficult for trucks to maneuver into
the loading dock. Mr. Gorris suggested that "no parking" be painted right
on the blacktop in that area. The residents were present and were satis-
fied with the agreements that had been made. Mr. Betts stated that in
? reference to the Rini's Supermarket proposal for an exterior renovation
to the existing building, he moved to approve the proposal under the
stipulation that the 6 terms referred to in the letter addressed from
Mr. Rini to Mr. Draeger (see attached) are complied with within 30 days
of this City's approval of this plan and that the 12 parking spaces on the
