ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Present: M. Betts, R. Bierman, R. Bowen, E. Traczyk, and J. Thomas <br />Absent: T. Morgan <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director J. Dubelko, Building Commissioner D. <br />Conway, Consulting City Engineer S. Cesen, and Clerk of <br />Commissions B. Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />M. Betts moved to approve the minutes of April 25, 1989 as submitted, seconded <br />by R. Bowen, and unanimously approved. <br />Chairman Thomas advised that the agenda would be rearranged and he would be <br />calling the various items out of order. <br />III. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />5) Columbia Terrace Motor Inn, 24399 Lorain Road (Heard at this point) <br />Exterior renovation to building. <br />Mr. Tommich.9 designer, presented revised plan which shows a flat mansard <br />instead of the originally proposed projecting mansard and explained that <br />the Building Commissioner had a concern with the projection on the east <br />elevation. There will be no roof top mechanical equipment, they will be <br />using through the wall units. Building Commissioner Conway advised that <br />the owners are now in the process of addressing code violations on the <br />interior of the building. It was clarified for a member of the audience <br />that the restaurant in front of the motel will be repainted and rejuve- <br />nated. B. Gorris moved to refer the Columbia Terrace Motor Inn at <br />24399 Lorain Road, exterior renovation to the Architectural Board of <br />Review for their input and the Safety Department for their input, seconded <br />by M. Betts, and unanimously approved. <br />4) Bud Kazor Insurance, 30005 Lorain P.oad <br />Proposal to convert existing home to an office building. <br />Mr. Kazor advised that he would be dividing a single family brick home <br />into three office units, one of which will be for his own offices. He <br />explained that he had two employees and that the garage area will pos- <br />sibly be rented to a business with only one employee who will be on the <br />premises at all times, but he does not know who will be in the west sec- <br />• tion of the building, perhaps a doctor or a dentist. The parking plan <br />shows 13 spaces with an enclosed area for trash containers; the rear <br />property will remain as lawn. Mr. Conway advised that 13 parking spaces <br />would be required for this building and that a medical office would <br />require 5 spaces per doctor. Since Mr. Kazor stated that he would not <br />need a dumpster it was suggested that trash containers could be placed <br />to the side or the rear of the building, the parking moved up so that
