CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MINUTES-JUNE 21, 1989 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairwoman Case ealled the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. <br />Present: M. Case, T. Gallagher, Y. Sohn, and B. Zergott <br />Mre Sohn9 a new member, had been sworn in previously. <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II, REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF A4INUTES: <br />B. Zergott moved to approve the minutes of May 17, 1989 as presented, seconded <br />by T. Gallagher, and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />Heard with building plans. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Home Centers, Inc., located to the rear of Bob Evans Restaurant, <br />25853 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to construct building. <br />Referred by Planning Commission on June 13, 1989. <br />Mr. Cody, architect, presented samples of the Akron Brick and Block char- <br />coal gray to be used on the building and the prefinished red metal panels <br />to be used on the towers, trim, and band, explaining that the band will <br />run ar.ound 3 elevations and return slightly on the west side (adjacent <br />to the shopping center), and will be bordered with 4 inch mirror trim. <br />There will also be some mirror treatment on the entrances and on the <br />Brookpark elevation which is emphasized even though there is no access <br />at that point since it will be visible from Great Northern Shopping Center. <br />He presented the revised parking plan with the reduced parking spaces as <br />recommended by the Planning Commission. The metal hallite lighting will <br />be directed toward the building and A1r. Cody pointed out that it brings <br />out a sparkle in the gray block. In referen.ce to the landscape plan, <br />he advised that the trees on the site are not in good condition and they <br />would prefer to remove them and install low decorative plantings. PZr. <br />Zergott advised that he has talked with the forester who agreed the trees <br />had not been maintained and has suggested that other trees be installed. <br />Mr. Zergott had several suggestions, but since this landscape plan had <br />just been presented, he would like to study it in order to make other <br />recommendations and he will submit this to the Building Department by <br />Friday. He further suggested that the dumpster be totally enclosed. <br />Mr. Cody explained that tliey usually enclosed the dumpster with a wrought <br />iron screen which does not completely screen it, but does obscure it. <br />The roof top units will be behind the towers, but if they are visible <br />they wi11 be-se-reened.
