.. . . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />MINUTES-JULY 12, 1989 <br />Chairman Bugala called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />Present: R. Gomersall, B. Grace, J. Helon, T. Restifo, and R. Bugala <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Clerk of Commissions Oring <br />Law Director M. Gareau arrived at 7:40 p.m. <br />1. J. Albert Robinson, 4439 Martin Drive <br />Request for variance (.1123.12). Request extension of 6 foot rear yard <br />variance to add to and alter existing porch (6 foot rear yard variance granted <br />for original porch on April 27, 1968). Violation of Otd. 87-93, Section 1135.08(a). <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Robinson. Chairman Bugala explained that Mr. Robinson <br />wanted to add to the porch for which a variance was granted in 1968. Members <br />had no problem with the request. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request for <br />an extenbion of a 6 foot rear yard variance to add to and alter an existing <br />porch (6 foot rear yard variance granted for original porch on April 27, 1968) <br />for Mr. J. Albert Robinson, 4439 Martin Drive., seconded by B. Grace' and unani- <br />mously approved. Variance granted. <br />2. Pierre Radisson Inn (formerly Honors Hotel), 25000 Country Club Blvd. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 157 sq. ft. variance for wall sign <br />on second street; request 241 sq. ft. variance for total sign area. Violation <br />of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(e)3 and 1163.06(d). Also request variance for <br />ground sign to be located off hotel site and 95 sq. ft, variance for this <br />ground sign. Violations of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(a)1 and 1163.05. <br />(Previous variance granted for Honors Hotel on June 8, 1988). <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to T4r. Mize, representing Biskind Development Company, who explained <br />that a variance was granted a year ago for this same hotel under the name of <br />Honor's, however now that the name has changed, the logo will take up more <br />space in order to be legible from the same distance. He presented renderings <br />of the original request and explained that one sign will be moved to the south <br />elevation of the building so that it will face I-480. The letters on the new <br />sign are only 4z feet high as opposed to 5 foot letters on the original signs. <br />He presented a site plan showing the location of the ground sign at the entrance <br />and explained that the size of the off site sign would remain the same. The <br />members had no objections. J. Helon moved to grant the variances for the Pierre <br />Radisson Inn, 25000 Country Club Boulevard: the 157'square foot variance for a <br />wall sign on a second street; ttie 241 square foot variance for total sign area; <br />a variance for a ground sign to be located off the hotel site and a 95 square <br />foot variance for this ground sign, seconded by T. Restifo, and unanimously <br />approved. Variances granted. <br />3. Tony Dudsak, 4452 West Ranchview Ave. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request location variance (3 foot rear yard and <br />1 foot side yard) to replace tool shed (variance previously granted April 6, 1988). <br />Violation of ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02(d). <br />? <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board.
