?Ati, <br />; <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />PLANNING COMNffSSION <br />MINUTES - JUNE 12, 1990 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Present: M. Betts, R. Bierman, R. Bowen, B. Gorris, T. Morgan, L. <br />Orlowski, and J. Thomas. <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner Conway <br />City Engineer Deichmann, Assistant City Engineer <br />McDermott, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEJ AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />T. Morgan moved to approve the minutes of May 8, 1990 as submitted, <br />seconded by R. Bierman, and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPARTT7IIV'rS REQUESTS: <br />1.) Barlo Plaza, 30572 Lorai.n Road <br />Proposal to construct addition to existing retail building. <br />Heard by Architectural Board of Review May 16, 1990. <br />Chairman Thomas advised that a letter from the City Forester <br />recommended that an existing spruce- tree on the east side be removed <br />and a Skyline Locust tree be planted in its place; a matching locust <br />tree should be planted in the planter on the west side; all vegetationalong the east property line not within the paved area should remain; <br />some kind of trees or shrubs should be planted along the north property <br />line to establish a screen and in the northern section a Scotch Pine <br />and a Pin Oak tree should remain. The developer will be given a copy <br />of this report. Mr. Suhayda and Mr. Strelau, architect, advised that <br />the Architectural Board accepted pictures of the landscaping on the <br />existing plaza which is to be continued on the new portion, agreeing <br />that this would be satisfactory. Mr. Thomas noted that there will be a <br />new 6 foot board on board wood fence on the northern property line and <br />a portion of the east line. Building Commissioner Conway advised that <br />the 72 parking spaces noted on the plan included the landbanked ones. <br />Members had no further questions. Mr. Thomas thanked Mr. Hayden, the <br />developer, for his cooperation. B. Gorris moved that the Barlo Plaza <br />proposal to construct an addition to the exi.sting retail building at <br />30572 Lorain Road be approved incorporating the recommendations of the <br />City Forester and the Architectural Review Board, seconded by J._Thomas <br />and unanimously approved. Mr. Thomas advised that the William Hayden <br />Assembly Plat combining the two parcels would be heard next (Item 4, <br />under New Developments and Subdivisions). Assistant City Engineer <br />McDermott presented the plans and explained that the lot would conform <br />to the code and that the lots are a11 zoned General Retail. B. Gorris <br />moved to approve the William Hayden Assembly Plat, that is the proposal <br />to combine permanent parcel nos. 234-7-8 and 9(previously combined) <br />with permanent parcel no. 234-7-7 into one (1) parcel which is the si.te <br />of the Barlo Plaza, 30572 Lorain Road, and it is our imderstanding that <br />the zoning is all Retail Business, General, and the proposal conforms <br />to the Zoning Code,, seconded by T. Morgan, and tmanimously approved.
