CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MINUTES - JANCTARY 16, 1991 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Acting Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. <br />Present: Y. Sohn and B. Zergott. <br />, Mrs. Case arrived at 5:50 p.m. <br />Absent: T. Gallagher <br />Also Present: Chief Building Inspector Sanker and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIE,W ANID CORRECTION OF MINUTES : <br />B. Zergott moved to approve the minutes of December 19, 1990 as presented, <br />seconded by Y. Sohn, and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />Heard with building plans. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Carter Plaza West, property located between Gastown Gas Station and First <br />Federal of Lakewood (in front of Best's). <br />Proposal to construct retail building. <br />Referred by Planning Commission January 8, 1991. . <br />Mr. Acciarri, architect, presented revised plans and explained that this <br />retail building would complement the Best building as much as possible. It <br />w-ill be all masonry, standard size Continental Brick #496 with a standard <br />mortar color, and dark bronze window and door frames. The height to the top of <br />the parapet is 18 feet and will screen the roof top mechanicals. The sigr. <br />package has been submitted to the Building Department and will consist of <br />individually internally illuminated letters, transformers will be within the <br />letters or hidden behind the soffit. In reference to the landscaping plan, <br />Mr. Zergott advised that he and the forester agreed that they would like 2. <br />honey locust trees added in the front; he would also like three honey locust <br />planted on the west property line; and finally suggested that euomymus winter <br />creeper replace the grass at rear of the buildirg since it would be impossible- <br />to maintain it there. Mr. Acciarri agreede He further advised that they will <br />have lights on the west elevation over the doors; some security lighting, and <br />some metal halide lights imder ttie canopy. He stated that there is a pole light <br />in the adjacent Best property. He clarified for Mr. Sohn that the canopy would <br />all be the same plane, not with the raised detail as shown on the color <br />elevation and that there will be stone trim on the parapet: The brick <br />1
