CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MINUTES--JANUARY 22, 1992 <br />CONFIItIIVCE ROOM - 5: 30 P a M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Acting Chairman Gallagher called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. <br />Present: T. Gallagher and Y. Sohn. <br />Absent: M. Case and B. Zergott <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Zergott had advised the clerk prior to the meeting, that in the minutes <br />of the special meeting in November, it should be stated that Mr. Zergott was <br />present, (T. Gallagher was listed twice). T. Gallagher moved to accept the <br />minutes of November 7, 1991 as corrected, seconded by Y. Sohn, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />T. Gallagher moved to accept the minutes of October 16, 1991, November 20, <br />1991, and December 18, 1991 as presented, seconded by Y. Sohn and <br />unanimously approved. It was noted that Mr. Zergott had also stated that he <br />had no problem with these minutes. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />1) Shell Oil Company, 23385 Lorain Road <br />Signage for Food Mart. <br />Referred by the Building Commissioner <br />Mr. Moore and Mr. Coburn presented the plans. Mr. Coburn explained that <br />after they had received all approvals for rebuilding the station at Clague <br />and Lorain, including the signs, Shell introduced a new franchise called <br />Experience The Difference Food Marts and the previous signs have to be <br />changed from Food Mart to E.T.D. Building Commissioner Conway explained that <br />no variance was required for the wall sign, but the existin,g pole sign is <br />not in conformance, but it will not be changed. Mr. Moore explained that the <br />3 by 6 foot reader board on the pole sign will be removed. Mr. Coburn <br />advised that this would be a typical internally lighted box sign. In <br />response to Mr. Gallagher's question, Mr. Moore stated that the building <br />will be washed with light. It was further clarified that the building would <br />be sided with stonex panels, and the lower band will be a high grade <br />plastic. The members had no problem with this sign as long as the size <br />conforms to code. T. Gallagher moved that the sign be approved as presented, <br />seconded by Y. Sohn, and imanimously approved. <br />2) NTC Movies, Great Northern P1aza North. <br />Wall sign. <br />Referred liy Plann-ing Commission 1/14/92 as required in Section 1163.12-(i). <br />Building Commissioner Conway explained that there is a section in the new <br />code that required Planning Commission and the Architectural Board to <br />approve all theater signs. He believed that the original intent of that <br />section referred to a marquee sign. This pa.rticular sign, if considering the <br />1
