<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZOIVING APPEALS <br />MINUTES-MARCH 4, 1992 <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. <br />Present: S. Ferencik, B. Grace, J. Maloney, W. Purper, and R. Gomersall <br />A1so Present: Building Commissioner Conway, Law Director Gareau, and Clerk of <br />Commissions Oring. <br />B. Grace moved to approve the minutes of February 5, 1992, seconded by J. <br />Maloney, and unanimously approved. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised that out of the 10 requests this evening, 8 are for <br />signs. He further advised that all Board members have viewed the premises, 3 <br />votes are required for approval, and no judgement rendered is to be considered a <br />general policy affecting like situation elsewhere. <br />Mail Run and Travel. 24769 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 9 square foot variance for total sign <br />area. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.11(C). <br />Tabled at rneeting of February 5, 1992. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Briola, sign contractor. Mr. Gomersall advised that the sign <br />is installed. Mr. Briola explained that when they applied for the permit he had <br />been told it was approved, but later he received a call that the sign was <br />oversized. Buildi.ng Commission Conway stated that a contractor should not install <br />a sign until the permit is in his Yiand. Mr. Conway advised that he had limited <br />experience with this contractor so he could not say this was an ongoing problem. <br />Mr. Gomersall stated that the contractor should get his facts in the future. Mr. <br />Briola explained that this sign had been purchased for another location and the <br />owner was in need of a sign immediately. Mr. Grace stated tha.t the contractor <br />should lmow what the requirements are. J.. Maloney moved to grant Mail run and <br />Travel, 24769 Lorain Road theix request for a 9 square foot variance for total <br />sign area, seconded.R. Gomersall, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />1.. David Mills, 4173 Bentley Dr. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 12 foot rear yaxd variance to install <br />patio enclosure. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Bodman, contractor, and Mr. Millsa The members had seen the <br />property. Mr. Bodman explained where the.enclosure was to be located. There were <br />no further questions. B. Grace moved to grant David Mills, 4173 Bentley Drive, a <br />12 foot rear yard variance to install patio enclosure, seconded by W. Purper, and <br />unanimously approved. Vaxiance granted. <br />2. Halleen Chevrolet Truck Lot, 27932 Lorain.Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to display vehicles for sale in <br />75 foot front set back. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1139.07 (table). Also <br />request variance to relocate prohibited pole sign from 27871-81 Lorain Rd. <br />(locatian of sign would not conform to requirement for permitted pylon and ground <br />signs; also request 10 square foot variance for total sign area allowed for <br />business use. Violations of Ord. 1162e22(a) and 1163.11(a). <br />1
