CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONrNG APPEALS <br />MINUTES-OCTOBER 7, 1992 <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. <br />Present: T. Koberna, J. Ma.loney, W. Purper, and R. Gomersall <br />Absent: B. Grace. <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Building Commissioner Conway and Clerk of <br />Commissions Oring. <br />J. Maloney moved to approve the minutes of September 2, 1992, seconded by W. <br />Purper, and unanimously approved. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised those present that it would require 3 affirmative <br />votes to approve a proposal and also that each request would be approved based on <br />the physical situation peculiar to itself and no judgement rendered is to be <br />considered as a general policy effecting like situations elsewhere. <br />He further stated that request rnimber 9 would be heard first since the <br />representative is from out of town. <br />9. Famous Footwear, 26245 Great Northern Shopping Center. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 64 square foot variance for sign area an <br />a business unit. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.11(c). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Ketchum, sign contractor, who.explained that this signage <br />will be reduced by 45 square feet from what is existing an the present sign. It <br />was verified that these letters will be the same height as those that are <br />existing. The members have no problem with the request as long as the letters <br />remain at that height. W. Purper moved to grant.to Famous Footwear, 26245 Great <br />Northern Shopping Center a 64 square foot variance for sign area on a business <br />un-it, seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />l. Carl Merlini, 26165 Kennedy Ridge Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 700 square foot variance for area and 4 <br />foot height variance to construct tool shed. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section <br />1135.02(d) <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. and Mrs. Holly, Mr. Merlini's daughter and son in law, who <br />explained that the storage barn would have a single garage door. It was pointed <br />out that the lot is 1-%2 acres and the structure will be next to a 6 foot fence. <br />Mrs. Holly explained that they were trying to get all their equipment inside, <br />including their boat. The members agreed the lot was large enough to accommoda'Ee <br />a barn. J. Maloney moved to grant Carl Merlini, 26165 Kennedy Ridge Road, a 700 <br />square foot variance for area and a 4 foot height variance to construct ;a tool <br />shed, seconded by W. Purper, and Lmanimously approved. Variances granted. <br />2. Thomas and Jane May, 4671 Azalea Lane. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 13 square foot variance to install shed. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.02(d)-l. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. May who explained that after they contracted for an 8 by 8 <br />foot shed and obtained a building permit, the seller called and told them they <br />could have a larger shed for the same price. The members had no objections to the
