CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOAiZD <br />NIINUTES - NOVEMBER 21, 1995 <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />Present: B. Zergott <br />Absent: T. Gallagher, S. Krieger, and M. 4'ager. <br />Also present: Building Commissioner Conway, Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk, and <br />Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIINiJTES: <br />The minutes could not be reviewed because only one member was present. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />1) Fifth T1urd Bank (formerly Nationwide Bank), 26187 Lorain Road. <br />Mr. Miller, sign contractor, presented proposal to replace faces in the existing signs. Building <br />Commissioner Conway advised that he brought it to the board, because the members had requested to <br />see all logos. The signs have the logo "5/3". Mr. Zergott had no problem with the logo and <br />recommended approval. <br />2) McDonald's (Wal-Mart Building), 24801 Brookpark Road. <br />Mr. Burge, sign contractor, presented a sample of the McDonald's Golden Arch, a logo, which is to <br />be placed on the outside of Wal-Mart. He explained that that will be it will be a 4 foot arch and the <br />ouly sigu they will have. Building Commissioner Conway explained that he considered this a separate <br />use in the Wal-Mart building, so they will not need a variance. If Wal-Mart had their own restaurant <br />and put up a sigu, it would be considered a second wall sign. Mr. Zergott had no problem with the <br />logo and recommended approval. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No iteins. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Ethan Allen Home Interiors, 26125-27 Lorain Road. <br />I'roposal to re-clad existing buildiug. <br />Heard by planning commission November 14, 1995. <br />Mr. Mongello, and Ms. Kemp-Kopco, arclutects, presented plans to re-clad the old eyeworks build'uig <br />by covering 3 sides with Dryvit wluch will be returned partially on the east from the north (front) to <br />where the buildiug drops, and from the south (rear) for about 5 feet to the north. The remaiuder of <br />that wall will be painted to match the Dryvit since it contains all the utility lines and is adjacent to the <br />next building. A wlute coiuice will be installed on three sides as well, and will also be returned on the <br />east in the same manner. T1ie Dryvit will be in a Sand Blast Finish, with the Ethan Allan color #NAl- <br />03-08-17-06B (light beige) and NA1-51-03-08-17-7 (darker beige). Mr. Mongello explained that the <br />ramp on the side will be replaced with landscaping since the entrance at the front is at grade and can <br />serve the handicapped if a ramp is installed inside.
