Originally approved by plauuing commission on November 14, 1995.
Mr. Salleet, architect, explained that they had presented a similar proposal last year which had been
approved, but because of the cost factor, they are reducing it from 3,000 square feet to 2,000 square
feet. They are now proposing a new look and a vestibule which is similar, but the eastem face will not
be extended 8 feet out as originally planned so the. addition will not go out any fiuther into the parking
lot. The cooler in the rear will remain as originally approved. They will be extending the front produce
.,.. {
: area out 8 feet, a glass front, similar to their store on Great Northem Boulevard, with a new Arcadian
green canopy replacing the dark bronze for the new look, the under canopy will stay the same. The
office area will be increased. Two triangular skylights will be installed in the entrance/exit areas with a
matching canopy. Mr. Salleet presented a revised plan showing an increase of the front drive from 25
feet to 30 feet which they were able to increase by realigning the lines, no parking spaces have been
eliininated and there will be 224 parking spaces by re-striping them at a 60 degree angle. Handicapped
spaces have been added since the previous proposaL The hanclicapped parking will not extend past the
existing wa1k. Mr. Brennan is concerned since the handicapped spaces are so close to the main drive
where people will be picking up their groceries. Mr. Salleet responded that there was no stopping
allowed, but he was aware that people would stop, however there was at least 30 to 35 feet.
Crosswalks will be designated. Mr. Herbster wondered if the problem with the drainage from the
compactor has been addressed. Mr. Salleet responded that there is a new dumpster, and the drainage
will be tied into the sanitary sewer as requested by the bzd previously. They will enclose the dumpster if
required. The cooler will be part of the building and will have no exterior condensers. They will be
r.esurfacing and re-striping. the parking area, but the- lighting will remain the same. Mr. Tallon advised
that all lighting must be shielded .from the residents in the rear. Mr. Salleet agreed. No residents were
present. Chairman Tallon moved to approve the proposal of Rini Rego Supermarket, 23000 Lorain
Road; a revised proposal for a front canopy design, originally approved by planning comnoission on
November 14, 1995 with the following conditions:, any rear lighting will be shielded; the dumpster will
be taken care of and shielded if needed; drainage problem will be handled by tyiug into the sanitary; and
any agreements made at the previous meetings will be intact with this proposal.
