BUII,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Scott Minnick, 30993 I;orain Rd. .
Revised proposal to build storage/office bu.ilding and have outdoor storage of hardscaping.
Heard by architectural review board January 17, 1996.
Mr. Minnick explained that the revised plans show the cedar shake shingles instead of vinyl siding as
suggested by the architectural review board and presented a sample of the cedar shingle. He had also
talked to his neighbor who had no objection to the location of the 6 foot pines,. (That neighbor was
present and spoke later in the meeting.) Mr. Minnick explained that Mr. Yager, the architect on the
architectural review board, had wanted the chimuey, which matches the one on the house, to be built
with the building but, because of finances, he will have to wait awhile to install it. The plans also show
a fence-in area which will only be partially paved at first, but will be paved completely later on; he also
stated that he was aware that if he moved to fence further out, he would have to return to the
couimission. He will also have to return for approval of the future building development which is
inclicated on the plans. Mr. Koeth pointed out that since the materials will be on concrete, some of the
problems with dust would be eliminated. He also believed that if there were a problem, he could cover
the materials with plastia The front brick driveway will be constructed with the materials that he sells.
Mr. Minnick questioned if there were water pressure problems in this area because he has had a problem
with it in the house on the property. Mr. Spagnola, the neighbor, stated that he has had problems with
water pressure in the past month,. Cou.ncihnau D. McKay explained that the Water Department had
advised that they were doing testing and work on the lines and that North Olmsted residents would
experience a drop in pressure at certain times. City Engineer Deichmaun explained that this should not
be a sustained drop in pressure, it should only occur for hours, or possibly days. Building Commissioner
Conway .advised that the sign would require a height variance, since the stone base it was on made it
higher than code, but the face of the sign conformed. Mr.. Spagnola, the neighbor, asked if the number
of trees was the same on the new plan. Mr. Tallon advised that it would be the same quantity but they
would be moved closer to his property. Mr. Spagnola did not believe that would be a problem. W.
Minnick clarified the names of the colors he had shown. The stain for the main part of the building
would be coastal hue, the stain for the trim would be clear, and the paint would be Tory green. R.
Tallon moved to approve the Scott Minnick proposal, 30993 Lorain Road, to build a storage building
and have outdoor storage of hardscaping incorporating all the recommendations of the architectusal
review board and planning commission and with the recominendation to the board of zoning appeals
