1.J <br />.f . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD <br />MIN[JTES - MARCH 20, 1996 <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />Present: T. Gallagher, S. Krieger, M. Yager, B. Zergott, and Mr. Thomas Liggett, a new member. <br />Also Present: Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk and Clerk of Couvnissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MNUTES: <br />M. Yager moved to accept the minutes of February 21, 1996 as presented, seconded by T. Gallagher, <br />and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />Regarding logos, Mr. Zergott stated that the members of the committee to review the Zoning Codes <br />had agreed that they mainly objected to cartoons as logos. <br />1) Eagle Cleaners, 24549 Lorain Road. Proposal to add two eagle logos to existing signage. <br />Mr. Ryma.rczyk advised that Eagle Cleaners had installed the sign, and now wanted to put the eagles <br />on it. The Building Department has to verify if the square footage conforms to code. T. Gallagher <br />moved to approve the Eagle Cleaners sign, 24549 Lorain Road, providing it conforms to all code <br />requirements and ordinances, seconded by M. Yager, and unanimously approved. <br />2) Relax The Back Store, 25543 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to put logo on proposed signage. <br />Mr. Kinkaid, sign contractor, explained that this would be in the new portion of the Olmsted Plaza <br />shopping center, but the other signs are not being proposed at this time. The members would like to <br />see a unified sign package for the entire strip center. Mr. Yager would like to discourage the raceway <br />shown in the rendering_ He believed that there are ways to build the sign without a raceway. Mr. <br />Kinkaid explained that the raceway would be painted the same color of the mansard. The members <br />agreed to continue this request until a sign package can be presented, since the building is not <br />completed as yet. M. Yager moved to continue the Relax The Back Store; 25543 Lorain Road, sign <br />proposal, u.ntil an entire sign package is presented showing the look of the whole center, even if it <br />does not have individual names on it. The motion was seconded by S. Krieger, and unanimously <br />approved. <br />3) American Commodore Tuxedo, 26400 Lorain Road. (added to agenda). <br />Proposal to put logo on proposed signage. <br />Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk added this sign to the agenda. Mr. Shaner, representing <br />the business, explained the sign would be replacing the Allied Beauty Supply sign. Mr. Rymarczyk <br />advised that the board was inainly looking at the top hat and cane logo. It was clarified that they <br />would be replacing the signs in the existing pole sign, and it was explained to Mr. Shauer, that pole
