r' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD <br />1VIINUTES - JCTLY 17, 1996 <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chau-man Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. <br />Present: S. Krieger, T. Liggett, M. Yager, and B. Zergott. <br />Absent: T. Gallagher <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Assistant Clerk of Commissions Coinish. <br />H. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Yager made a motion to accept the minutes, on the condition that the word "coins" be changed <br />to "quoins." The motion was seconded by T. Liggett and unauimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />1) B. & G. I'roperties, Ohnsted Plaza Extension, 25393 Lorain Road. <br />Sigu Criteria for new section of shopping center. <br />Mr. McKee explained the sign criteria which will include Exercare, Futon Factory, United Cellular, <br />aud Norwest Financial. T7iere is a two foot sign baud ntn»ing across the building, wluch is located iu <br />Olmsted Plaza. Mr. Liggett would like to see them use the same style for the entire sign band. Mr. <br />Yager stated a wlule back, they had agreed to coordinate the Entenmanns roof to match one of the <br />surrounding buildings, and he noted that neither buildiug matches. Mr. McKee felt all the buildings <br />coordinate with green, but Kinko's, wluch is blue. Mr. Yager explained that Norwest Financial is on <br />a raceway (20' 10" X 25" or 15"), United Wireless is a box illuiniuated sign (36" X 96"), and Futon <br />Factory is white back lit channel letters (16' X 1.5'). He uoted none of the signs coordinate. NSr. <br />Yager questioned whether or not as inanager of tlus plaza they have developed some kind of <br />coordinated signage program. Mr. McKee explained, Marshall Brown and Jeffrey Glazier own the <br />shopping center, and felt as long as the signs are acceptable to the city and fall within the guidelines <br />of the signage allowance they will allow auy sigus. Mr. Yager reiterated the sign package does not <br />coordinate with the building, and tlus is something they are attempting to prevent from occurring. <br />He would like Mr. McKee to submit a inore coordinated sign package wluch may include a uuiform <br />style, color, and size of each sigu on the building. He noted that not all the sigus fall within the sigu <br />fascia. Mr. Yager appreciated gettiug the sigu criteria of the entire building, however he felt they <br />could do a better job coordinating. Mr. Zergott explained that they are trying to tie the strip centers <br />in with the same kind of signage. He suggested they try aud create there own iudividuality, however <br />use the same kind of uniform backdrop and signage. He reiterated that this board would like to get <br />the siguage to match, or at least resemble one auother. Mr. Yager recommended, under the lease <br />conditions, they include the coordiuatiou of these signs. He clarified that decision is up to the owner <br />and tlus board is here to be sure whatever is presented is in the best interests of the city aud works <br />well enough in itself to be acceptable. The members suggested they use a consistent sigu theme, and <br />if possible the same color. Mr. Liggett asked that the logo in the Norwest Financial sign be included
