/ <br />' • • <br />CTTY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />MINUTES - JLJNE 6, 1996 <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m Present: M. Boyle, R. Gomersall, T. Koberna, W. Purper, and J. Maloney. <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk, and Clerk of <br />Commissions Oring. <br />W. Purper moved to accept the minutes of May 8, 1996, as written, seconded by J. Maloney, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised that each case would be judged on the physical situation peculiar to itselt <br />so that in no way is a judgment rendered considered tp be a general policy judgment affecting properties <br />and like situations elsewhere. He explained that it would take three affirmative votes to approve a <br />request. <br />1. Magic Unicorn, 28649 Lorain Road. <br />• Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install individual tenant sign on non-conforming <br />pole sign. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12(h). Note: Pole sign must be removed by 1/1/98. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was adrninistered to Ms. <br />Balouge, owner, and Mr. Woost, sign contractor, who explained that they intend only to replace the <br />faces in a non-conforming pole sign. They were aware that the sign would have to be removed in 1998. <br />The members had no problem with the request. M. Boyle moved to grant the variances requested by <br />Magic Unicorn, 28649 Lorain Road, to install individual tenant sign on non-conforming pole sign. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12(h). Note: Pole sign must be removed by 1/1/98. The <br />motion was seconded by T. Koberna, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />2. Daniel Giersz. 5091 Andrus Drive. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 6 foot front setback variance to add enclosed porch on front of dwelling. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.06(a). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was ad.ministered to Mr. <br />Giersz, owner. The members had no objection to the request. W. Purper moved to grant the request of <br />Daniel Giersz, 5091 Andrus Drive, for a 6 foot front setback variance to add enclosed porch on front <br />of dwelling. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.06(a). The motion was seconded by J. Maloney, <br />and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />3. Aquasonic (Citgo), 28800 Lorain Road. <br />, Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install three (3 by 3 foot) logos on canopy. Request variances for pylon sign: to have changeable copy sign; a 5 foot variance for setback from <br />right of way; a 4 foot heiglit variauce; and a_7 square footvariance for sign area permitted for a pylon <br />sign (includ.ing the changeable copy). Also request variance to use balloons for a period of two days. <br />'Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections: 1163.120); 1163.4(k); 1163.12(b) and 1163.04(g) <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was adinivistered to J. <br />Attwood, owner, and R. Vincent, Citgo Oil Company, who explained that the existing sign is 15 foot <br />high, has 112 square foot, and is set back 4 feet; the new sign will be 12 foot lugh, will have 72 square
