r 9
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD
MINiJTES - MAY 21, 1997
CONFERENCE ROOM - 5:30 P.M.
I. ROLL CALL:
Chauman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M.
Present: T. Gallagher, S. Krieger, M. Yager, and B. Zergott.
T. Liggett arrived at 5:40 P.M. ..
Also present: Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk and Assistant Clerk of Commissions
Cornish.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIIN[JTES:
B. Zergott motioned to approve the minutes of April 16, 1997, seconded by M. Yager. Roll call
on motion: B. Zergott, M. Yager, T. Liggett, and T. Gallagher, yes. S. Krieger abstained as she
was not present at the previous meeting. Mr. Gallagher noted there was an error on the first page
in the planning cominission minutes for Metro Park Builders as the wattage of the light should
say 250 because they do not make 200 watt bulbs.
III. SIGNS:
1) Ziebart Tidy Car, 27935 Lorain Road
Wall and Crround Sign.
Mr. Bierdsworth and Mr. Woost presented a color rendering of the proposal. It was noted there
is an existing sign on the face of the building. Mr. Yager questioned how the ground sign will be
secured to the post. Mr. Woost advised this sign will be bolted through the sign and through the
post. It was clarified the sign will be installed with a post on either end. Mr. Woost verified the
sign would be a painted Embossed Lexan materiaL Mr. Yager did not like the colors, but noted it
probably could not be changed because this is the corporate image. He recommended modifying
the proposal so that the sign sticks out rather than the posts. It was suggested designing it so that
the sign wraps the post. Mr. Bierdsworth explained the posts cannot, be incorporated into the sign
because the sign is pre-manufactured. Mr. Woost agreed to paint the poles a blue color to match
the sign as closely as possible. Mr. Yager asked that this be extended one step further and appear
as one system. He elaborated the pole should match the sign in thickness, size, height, and color
for appearance reasons. Mr. Woost agreed to these conditions.
M. Yager motioned to accept the proposal as presented with. the accommodation of the posts
matching the sign in size, thickness, color, and height. The motion was seconded by T. Gallagher
and unanimously approved. In the framing of the motion, Mr. Woost questioned if the proposal
would require variances as he believed approximately a five foot variance would be required. Mr.
Woost wondered if he can move the sign so that it is in compliance. He noted the ordinance reads
it has to be 35 feet in, however it is located 25 feet off the property line which he thought a
variance would be required. Mr. Rymarczyk lielieved it appeared from the drawing the sign is not
