??. <br />. 1 <br />NORTH OLMSTI;D .LANDMARKS COMM=CSSION <br />MINUTES OF MAY 15 MEETING `?bUt <br />PRESENT: Chairperson Sharon Flemming, Bob Parry, Julie Brown, <br />Lois Van Aulcen, Mike Patton and Council Rep. Bill <br />Lackey. <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:20 pm. <br />The minutes of the April 17, 1986 meeting were approved. The motion <br />was made by,Lois Van Auken and seconded by'Mike Patton. <br />Correspondence: None <br />OLD Business; A.report from Don Copeland stated that there was <br />no good news about the Restoration plans for "OLD TOWN HALL". The <br />deadline for contracting funds for restoration is June 30th, but <br />the plans for restoration have been unduly delayed because of problems <br />in the removal of asbestoes from OLD TOWN HALL. <br />Report on Arbor Day: <br />Sharon Flemming was present when trees were planted at BUTTERNUT <br />SCHOOL and at the Jr. High School. The event was a success and <br />it is scheduled to be a yearly event. <br />More 01d Business : <br />Budget: When the North Olmsted Budget is approved, one of the first <br />priorities (from our portion of the budget) is to be used for the <br />purchase of new N.O. Historic Plaques. <br />We Care: Sharon reminded the NOL.C to fill ou* and send in the "We <br />Care" questionaires that the membership received. <br />Community Service: Sharon Flemming gave a presentation to the <br />first grade classes at Forest School. The topic of her presentation <br />was the Historic Sites in North Olmsted. <br />Butternut Ridge Historic District: <br />Bill Lackey reported that the Landmarks Ordinance will be the only <br />item presented to Council at their next meeting. <br />There was quite extensive discussion as to the feasability to structure <br />the new Ordinance so as to meet the CLG requirements. The following <br />provisions in the Ordinance would be REQUIRED if we wanted the <br />Ordinance to comply with CLG requirements: <br />1) The NOLC must have 2 professionals on the Commission (2 <br />professionals in the building or restoration field). <br />2) A body and a process for reviewing and making recommendations <br />concerning the Historic Buildings. <br />3) The Commission must have power to re.view changes in Historic
