Spino,
and Clerk of Commissions B. Oring.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
In the minutes of October 28th, page l, 4th line from the bottom correct the
spelling of Schartman and on Page 2, second paragraph, last line Wednesday
should be changed to read Thursday.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
1) Halleen Chevrolet, 27932 Lorain Road
Request permission to install satellite dish earth station on roof
of b uilding. Violation of Ord. 83-154, Section 1367.04-B.
Chairman Kazak administered the oath to Mr. Dumbrowski, contractor from
Future Vision Satellite, who explained that this will be a 6' stationary
antenna to be mounted on the roof with non-pentrating roof inounts.Building
Commissioner Spino question.ed if roof could withstand:..this weight. No
engineering studies have been done as yet, but weight should be distributed
enough to be satisfactory according to Mr. Dumbrowski. Board discussed
the weight factor and agreed that.more information would be-required on
how roof is supported. Installation on roof requires a variance and the
contractor believes he also needs a height variance because roof exceeds
the height limitations as stated in the ordinance. Antenna would not
be visible to the residences in the rear, but Mr. Schulz is concerned
because it would be visible from Lorain Road. Chairman Kazak administered
the oath to Mrs. Kordish, a resident, and explained the proposal to her.
? Since the dish is to be located behind the peak on the building, he
does not believe it would be visible from Lorain Road, but it would be
seen from the park to the west. Mrs. Kordish questioned why the dealership
would need an antenna and Mr. Schulz read an article from USA Today which
explained the function of these dishes to various dealerships. Chairman
Kazak administered the oath to Mrs. Beck, a Dorothy Drive resident, at
this point. She asked the Board to take into consideration that Halleen
has many lights on the property and this dish would stand out like a sign
and requested that the Board, if they approve the request, require some
screening since she stated that she will be able to see this installation
from her house. She also believes that if this is approved it will be
establishing a precedent for the other dealerships along Lorain Road.
The residents were advised that the antenna would not interfere with their
television reception. Mr. Spino advised that there is a plastic mesh
screening which might be suitable to screen the dish and will try to get
a sample of it for the Board. The Board agrees that more information
would be needed to approve a roof-top installation. Mr. Dumbrowski
suggested that the reisdents look at their other installations. Board
