r CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS MINUTES - MARCH 6, 1985 Vice Chairman Graves called the meeting to order at 7:30 p:m. Present: R. Bugala, R. Gomersall, E. Graves, and J. Helon Absent: C. Renunel Also Present: Law Director M. Gareau, Building Commissioner E. Gundy, and Recording Secretary B. Oring. 1. North Olmsted United Methodist Church, 4600 Dover Center Rd. Request for special permit to construct addition to church located in a residential district. Special permission required by Ord. 62-33, Section 1151.01-E. Vice Chairman Graves called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was administered to Mr. T. Moore, Architect, and to neighbors, Mrs. Truskawetzki and Mrs. Mertus. Mr. Moore explained that they are request- ing an extension of the special permit to add a 2,700 sq. ft. addition to ; expand class rooms, offices?,nursery and lavatories. Proposal was explained to neighbors who had no. objection to addition but were concerned that it would be used for functions not connected with the church. They complained ; about the traffic generated by the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings (this would ! be a permitted use) and about snow plowing at 4 a.m. They were advised to contact the minister regarding these problems. R. Bugala moved to pro- vide the special permit to construct an addition to the North Olmsted United Methodist Church located in a residential district9 seconded by R. Gomersall, ? and unanimously approved. Special permit granted 2. George A. Lahl, 23045 Clifford Rd. Request special permit to lift non-conforming house (side yard) and install new structural supports. Special permission required by Ord. 62-33, Section 1231.02. Vice Chairman Graves called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was administered to Mr. and Mrs. Lahl who explained proposal to raise house to install supports in order to alter the interior of the house and enlarge basement. Board questioned if garage on property had received a variance. Building Department will look into this. E. Graves moved to. grant the special permit to lift non-conforming house and install new struc- tural supports, seconded by R. Bugala, and unanimously approved. Special permit granted. 3. First Federal Savings and Loan of Lakewood, 26614 Lorain Rd. Request for variance (1133.13). Request 47 sq. ft. variance for total sign area for existing pole sign. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1221.06-D. Also request location variance (not 3' from sidewalk). Vio- lation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1221.06-F4.
