Puzzitiello, and B. Schulz <br />Absent: R. Burke <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner E. Gundy, Councilman Tallon, and <br />Recording Secretary B. Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION 0F MINUTES: <br />The meeting of October 24, 1985 was cancelled because there was no quorum, <br />only Mr. Kazak, Mr, Burke and Building Commissioner Gundy were present. <br />B. Schulz moved to approve the Minutes of September 26, 1985 as submitted, <br />seconded liy R. Puzzitiello, and unanimously approved. <br />III. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1) C.M.H.E. Corp, dba Curtis Mathes, 4579 Great Northern Blbd. <br />Request permission to install satellite dish earth station at 4579 <br />Great Northern B1vd. Tf structure is placed in rear yard as re- <br />qui:red in Ord. 83--154, Section 1367.03, the applicant proposes the <br />height to exceed the maximum of 15' as required in Section 1367.06 or <br />as an alternative, a variance is required to place satellite dish in <br />sideyard contrary to Section 1367.03. (Continued from meeting of September <br />26, 1985) (Continued from the meeting of October 24th, because of no quorum) <br />Building Commissioner Gundy has reviewed the parking and the parking will <br />still conform to code with the dish installed in a parking space. The oath <br />was admi.nistered to Mr. David Shumbach who presented literature pertaining <br />to satellite dish earth stations. He explained that there was no place <br />that they could install the dish without being in violation of the code. <br />This location will be below the adjacent fence, behind the trees, between <br />two commercial buildings, and is the location that the neighbors had pre- <br />ferred. (No neighbors were present at this meeting but had been in Sep= <br />tember and at the cancelled meeting:) He.pointed out that this is a resi- <br />dential size dish. Mr. Schulz is concerned because of the possibility of a <br />proliferation of these dishes at other electronic stores and that variances <br />would be requested at other locations. Ida Petko, also representing Curtis <br />Mathes, was sworn in at this point. She explained that Curtis Mathes did <br />their own installation and that their plans had been approved by state <br />engineers in other locations. She explained that this location was pre- <br />ferable to other locations mentioned. They stated that having a dish on <br />the premises was necessary in order to demonstrate the hands on experience <br />of the remote control and the quality andscop?e of the picture. They advised <br />that in this area, even with the newer technology this size dish is neces- <br />sary, later on a smaller dish would be adequate.
