c <br />f „.?. ? <br />t ? <br />4 <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS <br />MINUTES - FEBRUARY 26, 1981 <br />Chairman Schulz called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. <br />Present: B. Shulz, J. Patton, and R. Tallon <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner E. Gundy, Building Inspector <br />B. MacKenzie, and Recording Secretary B. Oring. <br />R. Tallon read the Minutes of November 20, 1981. The Minutes <br />were approved as submitted. <br />Continuation of discussion of window condensation problems in <br />the homes of Robert Beck, Richard Stock, and David Votaw on <br />Walter Road. <br />Chairman Shulz advised that a site inspection had been made at <br />the Stock residence. Although there was no condensation at the <br />time, it was noted that the weather stripping on the bedroom <br />window was deteriorating and was short an inch and three quarters <br />on each side. Another window in the rear bedroom did not meet at <br />the check rail. It was noted that a window which had been re- <br />paired was tight and that the window in the bedroom which had not <br />been repaired was loose. Building Commissioner Gundy who had <br />conducted humidity tests, advised that there was no unusual <br />amoun6, of humidity in any of the three houses. There was de- <br />finitely evidence of condensation in Mr. Stocks house. Chairman <br />Schulz stated that there is no building code violation, but <br />there is evidence that the windows were not installed properly, <br />and that the builder has a responsibility to correct the shim- <br />ming problem and the lack of weather stripping. There will <br />probably always be condensation because of the thinness of the <br />windows. A letter should be sent to the builder advising him <br />of this. <br />Iu referenee to the _window 'well .problem, Mr. Stock does ii.ot feel <br />the pipe was installed properly. Inspector MacKenzie stated <br />that the pipe went down to the slag and was installed according <br />to code. <br />The problems with the swale should be referred to the Engineering <br />Department. <br />Mr. Stock was administered the oath.
