'- ?
7 •
?
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
PLANNING COMMISSION
MINUTES - JUNE 9, 1981
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairman Gorris called the Meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
Present: R. Bugala, T. Morgan, R. Perla, J. Roberts, J. Brown,
and B. Gorris. J. Prokasy arrived at 8:07 p.m.
Also Present: Building Commissioner E. Gundy, Assistant City
Engineer D. McDermott, Assistant Law Director
D. Ryan, Councilmen J. Logan'and D. McKay and
Recording Secretary B. Oring
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
T. Morgan moved to approve the Minutes of May 26, 1981 as
presented, seconded by R. Perla, and unanimously approved.
III. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
(a) National City Bank, located on the Rini Supermarket
property at 23100 Lorain Rd. Building Commissioner Gundy advised that the building set back
and off street parking conforms to code. Mr. Tatakis of National
City and Krobert Kurfis of Blare Buildings, Inc. explained the
proposal and the traffic flow into the auto teller and bank
parking. It was determined that the driveway off West 231 was
in close proximity to the driveway from the Store Building Co
proposed shopping plaza planned for the northwest corner of
West 231 and Lorain. The Commission believes that the traffic
flow should be studied by the Safety Department and would like
a plan showing both drives in relation to the total intersection.
Assistant City Engineer D. McKermott stated that such a topo-
graphical plan could be requested from the developer. Council-
men J. Logan and D. McKay agreed that such a study from the
Safety Department was necessary. Mr. Tatakis reminded the
Commission that approval had been given to the bank for a building
on the previously planned shopping plaza on the northwest corner
but that those plans have now been abandoned by the developer.
The adjacent property.owners, E. Holmok, L. Herman, and C.
Walczak, objected to this proposal on the basis of the traffic"
congestion already created by the supermarket and the Fotomat
booth and the additional congestion which will be created with
the opening of Rite-Aid drug Store which is now under construc-
tion. They maintain that the parking plan as shown is deceptive
since: 1) the parking along the east drive will not be usable
