\ <br />MINTJTES OF A PIIBLIC HEARING BY ZONING <br />BOAAD OF APPEALS AT COE SCHOOL ON <br />FEBRIIARY 17s 1959 <br />The meeting was called to ord.er by Chairman R. Parker at 7:45 P.M. <br />The minutes of January 6th and February 3rd were read by Mr. Parker. <br />/ <br />Section of Zoning Ordinance applicable to the appeal of Shell Oil Co. <br />taas read by Mr. Parker. The appeal, as filed, was read by NIr. Parker. <br />Mr. McKinney of Shell Oil Co. addressed the hearing and explained the <br />nature of the appeal. A final plan of the station and improvement was <br />presented by Mr. McKin.ney. <br />PZr. Knappik voiced objection to the station. <br />Nls%Culligan of P.T..4..reported that the motion made in P.T.A. meeting <br />objecting to erection`of gas station was lost. The results of pulalia <br />opinion poll was filed as exhibit: <br />"To: Coe School Parents <br />2/11/59 <br />From: Coe School P.T.A. <br />0 <br />The commercially zoned lot located on the northwest corner <br />of Columbia and Lorain Roads, adjacent to Coe School is available for lease. <br />The Shell Oil Co. is petitioning the Zoning Bd. of Appeals for permission <br />to erect a modern service station. <br />Their plans inelude what they feel to be adequate safety measures. <br />One of the features provides for a chain link fence on a bumper rail to <br />separate the sehool property from the station land. <br />Numerous questions have arisen regarding the use of this property. <br />A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD TUESDAY9 2/17/59, AT 7:30 P.M. AT COE SCHOOL. <br />In order to present the representative opinion of Coe School' <br />the P.T.A. is asking the cooperation of parents. If y:ou believe this issue <br />is vital9 please express your views by indicating your preference below -- <br />and attend the meeting9 if possible. <br />DO YOU OPPOSE HAVING A SERVICE STATION <br />NEXT TO COE SCHOOL? YES NO " <br />(Note: Results - 158 yes; 118 no; 66 failed to respond or expressed neutral <br />opinion. <br />Mr. Fenwiek of Elm Road asked for information as to the reason for the hearing. <br />Mr. Barbisch of Elm Road voiced objection on account of the hazards to <br />children, due to the trafiice <br />? <br />? <br />. ? <br />-` -
