. ? PIAN1TING COMNlISSION Nfay 22, 1973 T. Roll Call The meeting taas called to order by Chairman Davis at 8:07 p.m. Those present weres Chairman Davis, Messrs. Ledvina, Richards, Brewer and Byers. In the absence of Nir. F3liott Mr. Brewer was appointed acting secretary. Also present: Dave NcDermott, Assistant to City Engineer, and Mrs. Virginia Hodgins, Recording Secty. II. Reading and Correction of Minutes Mr. Richards corrected minu-tes to read members of his committee in Item VIZ on Page 3 had visited housing for elderly in Euclid Beach instead of S.O.N. Center and Mayfield. N1M. Ledvina moved minutes of May 9, 1973 be accepted as correct- ed. Motion seconded by Mr. Byers and passed. TII. Building Department Requests - No Items IV. Old Business (a) Amerikid Day Care Lchool This item to be continued (b) Great Northern Towers At this ti.me iqr. Richards gave his Committee Report. Re- port was summarization of ineeting held Monday, May 14 at which time Chr. Richards and his committee, Mr. Byers and Mr. Ledvina heard from relatively small representation of Senior Citizens in North Olmsted. There were a number of other people present. N1r. Richards gave basic plus and minus points for the plan. On the plus side are two items: 1. there is good demand for housing at less than competitive cost and if plan is execut- ed it will create demand. U?e are not to be mislead by feel- ing that it is housing for the elderly per se; 2. the people making the proposal have an ability to do what they say. This is important to citizens. There are two points on the minus side: one is the psychological undesirability of creating segregated housing deliberately. The fact that whether or not we follow psychological bent there -wi11 be segregated housing. Ul.timatel.y it is the community itself
