Ms. Wenger said she received
the plaque and suggested having a presentation or installation ceremony with the owners. Mr.
Schumann said he discussed the designation with Jeff Gallatin, whom may write an article on the
home. Mr. Thomas said the commission was thankful the home was purchased and being
restored as it had been neglected for many years. Mr. Richner asked that a CD and printed copy
of the slide presentation be given to the Historical Society.
4302 Porter Road
Mr. Thomas said the commission will move forward with the research for the Porter Road home.
In researching historical records the Knight family is listed as members of the Universalist
Church which was founded prior to the church's construction in 1847 but fewer records are
available regarding the history of the home. Mr. Schumann believed the style of home itself may
be of greater significance than the family history. The home is the only Italianate home fully
constructed from sandstone quarried from the property in which it is located. Mr. Neville said he
would lilce the commission to tour the home again to collect more information regarding the
additions made. The Historical Society has maps identifying the Porter Road parcel as being a
stone quan•y. Ms. Wenger said the North Olmsted magazine will be published around May 2012
and she is hoping that articles on both the Butternut Ridge and Porter Road homes will be
included.
