i <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 18, 2413 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Brake called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Bill Brake, JoAnn DePolo, Brad Doane, Lauren Suter, Coletta Strippy, David Wahl <br />Absent: Annie Kilbane, Nicole McClain, Lisa Graff <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger, Clerk of Commissions Donna Rote <br />REVIEW AND C012RECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. I)oane moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the August 21, 2013 minutes which <br />passed 6-0. <br />COMMUNITY NETWORKS <br />Angela Boehm and Brandon with Olmsted Performing Arts reviewed how the organization was <br />established. They are a non-profit group which started 10 years ago as a theater group. They now <br />have thirteen different programs including dancing, music, production casting, commercials and <br />art classes. The newly acquired building has a theater that seats 1,200 with additional rooms for <br />rent. Three days a week they offer senior and homeschool programs. Their slogan is "building <br />character on stage and at home." Their production group has doubled in the past year and they <br />now have 65 contracted staff inembers which they hope to transition some into permanent <br />employees. They set all fees and do all programing and advertisements for their programs and <br />pay the contractors as teachers. They have a website and offer a monthly newsletter for anyone <br />interested in lceeping up with their programs. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Olraisted Festival of the Arts <br />Ms. Wenger said the Ohio Arts Counci12014 Festival form will be submitted. A few new <br />volunteers have joined the organizing committee. Next year's date has been set for August 10, <br />2014. They have suggested an early bird rate of $60 and late rate at $75 with thought of possibly <br />using discount coupons to participants and vendors who participate in other city events. She <br />passed out a draft schedule for milestones and asked for input on how to improve the schedule. <br />Mr. Brake said such schedules work well with repeating events. <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />The 2014 Student Art Gallery opening has been set for Wednesday, Apri12, 2014 from 6:00pm <br />to 8:00pm. Ms. Strippy said she would contact the school to possibly incorporate student music <br />into the event. Ms. Wenger said the Mayor could speak and acknowIedge each of the students.
