<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />MINUTES OF MAY 21, 2014 <br />The meeting came to order at 6:33 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Bill Bralce, Lauren Suter, JoAnn DePolo, Brad Doane, David Wahl, Nicole McClain, <br />Annie Kilbane, Paul Schumann, Jim Morse, David Neville, Jim Dubellco, Duane <br />Limpert, Jackie Chavez Anderson, Cheryl Farver, Vera Brewer, Annie Dorsey (Great. <br />Northern Mall), Valerie Fetzer(Cleveland Metroparks) <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger <br />Bill Bralce called the meeting to order at 6:30pm and the group made self-introductions. <br />Mission and Key Themes <br />The purpose of the cominittee is to celebrate North Olmsted's history and heritage and recognize <br />milestones and achievements of the last 200 years, while creating opportunities for sustained <br />collaboration and partnerships between city, schools and community organizations. <br />Bill suggested framing the planning for the year into three major themes or categories: <br />EDUCATE - Share our rich history - looking into the past <br />CELEBRATE - Unite the community - inaking tomorrow's history today <br />INSPIRE - Create a legacy for future generations - thinking about the future <br />It was fiirther suggested that one committee member talce on the role of thought leader/captain <br />for each of the theine areas. Their roles would be to infuse the events with more content, interest <br />and purpose related to the bicentennial celebration. They would work with evenf chairs to add <br />inore bicentennial "substance" based upon the main theme of the event. <br />Educate Czar - Paul Schumaru-1 <br />Celebrate Captain - Duane Liinpert <br />Inspire Divas - JoAnn DePolo and Vera Brewer <br />Most events will have one strong central theme, in some cases, there inight be a secondary <br />theine. Thought leaders and executive committee will determine which themes are most <br />appropriate per event. Publicity c& Outreach Report <br /> <br />Lauren presented the prefened logo developed by the PR group. Spirited discussion was had and <br />recommendations were made regarding small changes to the logo, which was approved subject <br />to final refinement of the publicity committee. Publicity will develop content for a Faceboolc <br />page, ideally called Celebrate North Olmsted. Reports were provided on fundraising efforts,
