Note: Tabled 11/10/14
Mr. Samarian said the home was recently purchased and they'.re trying to buckle the house up to
ensure no further damage. They were able to install a new roof however the previous owner
removed the siding from the east and south elevation. Although they would like to retain the
style and character of the home, most of the wood siding has been removed. They would like to
vinyl side the south, west and east elevations of the home using siding sized to match the wood
siding. They've received quotes for installing vinyl siding along the baclc and two sides of the
home and to salvage as much of the wood siding left to repair the front of the home. The ornate
trim tluoughout the front elevation will be restored or replaced to look similar. They would
prefer to just remove everything and vinyl side the entire home which would take less time. The
photos submitted show the siding is plank wood not shaker shingles. He would like to use the
vinyl on the entire home and just fix the ornate wood work along the front.
Mr. Neville said typically the commission looks at the age, style, history and condition of the
home. The commission would not want the style of the
hoine changed or lose its historical character. He has no objections to using vinyl siding along
the back of the home but would prefer the front remain wood siding. The wood shingles are
