, _ - 4 CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES OF OCTOBER 21, 2015 ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. Present: Lauren Suter, David Wahl, Stephanie Procter, Sue Collander, JoAnn DePolo, Laura Simna Absent: Bill Brake, Cailey Brake, Jeff Campbell, Annie Kilbane, Nicole McClain Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES David moved, seconded by Sue, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of September 16, 2015 which passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS City Hall Art Gallery Owen McCafferty's application was reviewed and approved for a one month show during November. Mary Gut's application was also received and approved for a one month show. Members thought the application should be amended to ask the applicant how many pieces they have available for display and suggest a maximum of 20 to 25. If artists have much fewer pieces, shows could be combined. JoAnn suggested having an art gallery theme month, where any number of artists could submit a work to be displayed in connection with that theme. The holiday season could be a good time to have a theme. JoAnn suggested a spring theme which could follow the student art gallery in March and April. Catchy names were discussed. "In Bloom" was one possible idea where the group would solicit botanical themed pieces. ONGOING BUSINESS PR/Publicity Kim is working on the end of the year program, collecting photos from each event plus descriptions, along with sponsors. Sue and Laura volunteered to be proofreaders once a draft is available. Kim thought the program would be out after North Olmsted Noel. North Olmsted Noel Annie has secured Santa for the event. Laura has booked Great Lakes Light Opera quartet for caroling between 5-6PM. She is still pursuing a string ensemble and small brass group. Stephanie has not received good response from vendors to date. Kim has booked Crooked Kettle Popcorn
