PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF DECEMBER 9, 2015 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Malone called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: Greg Malone, Julie Nader, Paul Schumann, Thomas Patton, David Anderson, Don <br />Rerko <br />Absent: Ralph Bohlmann <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kimberly Wenger, Assistant Law Director Bryan <br />O'Malley, City Engineer Pietro DiFranco, Assistant Building Commissioner Daniel <br />Russell, Clerk of Commissions Donna Rote, Permit Clerk Nicole Rambo <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Ms. Wenger suinmarized upcoming changes to BZBA and Ms. Rambo joining the Planning <br />Department. Mr. Malone thanked Ms. Rote for her years of service to the Boards and <br />Commissions. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Ms. Nader, to approve the Planning & Design <br />Commission minutes of October 28, 2015 and November 11, 2015 as written, motion passed <br />6-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />15-4501 Savers; 26350 Brookpark Road <br />Representatives: Joel Frezel, JF Signs; Derek Anderson, Savers <br />Ms. Wenger stated that the proposal consists of a signage package for the proposed Savers and <br />secondary tenant at this retail building. Signage was eliminated from the proposed building and <br />site improvement proposal in October. <br />Signage for Savers includes three wall signs, one "Savers" and two "Donation Center" signs. <br />Variances would be required for two additional wall signs, where code permits one. The Savers <br />sign also exceeds allowable height by 1 foot. The three signs exceed total allowable area of <br />building signage by 79 square feet. Additionally, while not signage, another building feature has <br />appeared, namely a green awning to the north of the main entrance along the front fagade. This <br />green awning was recommended for removal at previous staff review meetings and was <br />eliminated from previously approved plans. Ms. Wenger recommended eliminating the green <br />awning and at least one of the three wall signs. <br />Signage for the secondary tenant consists of two wall signs at 100 square feet each. The code
