PLANNING & DESIGN COIVIMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINTJTES OF AUGUS'I' 24, 2016 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Malone called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm in Council Chambers and led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Present: Greg Malone, David Anderson, Paul Schumann, Tom Patton, Don Rerko, Darrick <br />Matthews, Julie Nader <br />Staff: Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley, Planning Director Kim Wenger, Planner James <br />Aspery, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo <br />REVIEW AND CORIaECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Ms. Nader, to approve the Planning & Design <br />Commission minutes of August 10, 2016, motion passed 7-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />16-6591; La Quinta Inn & Suites; 25105 Countrv Club B1vd. <br />Representatives: Paul Patel, owner; Mary McDonnell, Architectural Design <br />Ms. Wenger said the La Quinta Inn & Suites is under new ownership. The owner has made <br />application for exterior building and site improvements to update the facility to the company's <br />new brand standards. The project location is in Mixed Use District A. Under Chapter 1149, the <br />nature of this proposal qualifies the project as an amendment to detailed development plans. <br />Unlike the traditional review of commercial development proposals, the Planning and Design <br />Commission has authority to approve these plan amendments. <br />The amendments to the detailed development plan include: <br />• Exterior refinishing of the entire hotel and pool building to conform with La Quinta's new <br />corporate brand standard <br />• New exit door on the east elevation <br />• Landscape improvements throughout and new outdoor amenity area for hotel patrons in the <br />lawn area east of the hotel <br />• New decorative wall mounted lights and bollard lights and replacement of parking lot <br />lighting <br />• New wall signage; two existing to remain and two additional proposed <br />• Repair parking lot, walks, curbs, sidewalks and decorative paving as necessary <br />• Refinish dumpster enclosure and refinish/replace other site accessories as necessary <br />Variances are requested for the number, height and area of wall signage, which will be addressed <br />by the Building and Zoning Board of Appeals. Planning and Design Commission has the final <br />approval authority over this amendment to the approved development plan.
