CITY OF loTORTH OLMSTED <br />AitTS COMMISSIOleT <br />MINUTES OF MAY 18, 2016 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL & NEW MEMBEIt RECOGNITION <br />This meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. by James Aspery in Council's Caucus Room. <br />James introduced Leah Rogalski-Davis as the Arts Commission's newest member, pending being <br />sworn-in by Mayor Kennedy. <br />Present: Leah Rogalski-Davis, JoAnn DePolo, Stephanie Procter, Laura Simna, Lauren Suter, <br />Sue Collander, Jackie Anderson <br />Absent: Bill Brake, Jeff Campbell, Annie Kilbane <br />Staff: Plamiing & Development Director Kim Wenger, Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIINUTES <br />Laura moved, seconded by Jackie, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of February 17, <br />2016 which passed unanimously. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Citv Hall Art Gallery <br />James recapped the March 30t' "Mayor's Art Show", stating that it was well-received and ran <br />smoothly with the new format involving a group picture with Mayor Kennedy. JoAnn added that <br />the event is expected to keep growing in coming years, and she is looking forward to next year's <br />event. Wed. March 29h, 2017 was selected as a tentative date for next year's event- James will <br />confirm with NOHS contact and report back. <br />The current gallery, "Springscapes: from Flowers to Feelings" is currently running through <br />Friday May 27h. JoAnn noted how impressed she was with the submissions, Kim agreed that she <br />enjoyed the variety of artists for this exhibit. After the conclusion of this gallery, a unanimous <br />vote was held to approve Toni Payne as the next gallery exhibit for months of June, July and <br />August. Lauren moved, seconded by Laura. <br />September gallery ideas were discussed, with the Commission ultimately deciding on "Focus <br />North Olmsted": a photography showcase highlighting residents' perspectives of North Olmsted. <br />The initial call for submissions will be released in late-June, and will be curated by JoAnn and <br />selected by the Commission as per usual. <br />Earth Fair <br />James recapped the first annual Earth Fair event on Apri124th, thanking the Commission for their <br />support and hard work to launch a successful event on the first try. There was an estimated <br />turnout of 700-800 guests, and the entertainment was an all-around success. <br />Kim suggested that the Commission determine next year's date. Jackie shared that she has <br />tentatively booked Sunday, Apri123`d, 2017 as the second-annual Earth Fair at the Community
