v? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />A2TS COMIVIISSION <br />1VIINUTES OF FEBIZUAR4' 17, 2016 <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Bill Brake, Jeff Campbell, JoAnn DePolo, Stephanie Procter, Laura Simna, Lauren <br />Suter, Sue Collander, Jackie Anderson <br />Absent: Annie Kilbane, Cailey Bement <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger, Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MIloTUTES <br />Jeff movecl, seconded by Jackie, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of Januaa-y 20, <br />2015 which passed unaniuYOUSIy. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Mayor's Art Show,lVIarch 30 <br />JoAnn led discussion of updates, suggesting that background music is not as important as visual <br />arts after Laura said she has been unable to reach NOHS staff to book a student ensemble. Kim <br />confirmed that Polaris Pastry Arts Program will provide pastries, and stated that the Commission <br />is responsible for providing beverages, cheese and crackers. It was decided that James and Kim <br />will act as the points of contact to gather artist info (nametags, cards, etc.). Lauren agreed to <br />design graphics. Members were reminded that the next Commission meeting date will be the <br />show. JoAnn suggested that the cut-off date for artist info should be Wed. March 16, and that the <br />artwork should also be dropped off before Spring Break. Kim and JoAnn suggested that further <br />clarification of hanging equipment might be needed, to avoid issues when they are hung. Jackie, <br />Lauren, JoAnn, Stephanie, Kim and James agreed to help hang artwork on Thursday the 24ffi- <br />James or Kim will send email reminder with the start time. It was also recommended that there <br />should be a"welcoming group" to greet guests as they enter the show. Kim stated that floral <br />arrangements can be purchased by the Commission this year. Invitations to Council and school <br />officials will be mailed by James, he will explore ways to make them more visually-appealing <br />than City stationery. <br />Spring Art Gallery, May 2-27 <br />James informed the group that he has received 1 submission so far. JoAnn said she has <br />approximately 3 artists lined up for the March 11 deadline, and that they always come in last- <br />minute. Sue said she has approximately 10 artists lined up to submit before deadline. <br />Earth Fair, Anri124 <br />The event date will be Apri124"' from 1:00-4:OOPM at the cabin, senior center and park. Next <br />committee meeting is February 22nd at 11:OOAM at the cabin. Jackie has tentatively booked <br />Island Jeff Cavallo as a steel drum entertainer, James will handle invoicing. Oxcart Food Pantry <br />confirmed their attendance, and advised Jackie that a paper goods donation drive would be more <br />useful than a typical canned good drive.
