CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS CONIlVTISSION <br />NIINUTES OF MAY 17, 2017 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Jackie Anderson, Stephanie Procter, Leah Rogalski Davis, Lauren Suter, Janelle Zauner <br />Absent: Annie Kilbane, Laura Simna <br />Staf£ Planner James Aspery <br />Janelle Zauner was introduced as the Arts Commission's newest member. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Leah moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of March 15, 2017, seconded by Stephanie. <br />Motion passed unanimously. - - <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Earth Fair <br />The group recapped the second annual Earth Fair event on Apri123`a, agreeing that the event was <br />even more enjoyable in its second year. Based on next year's Earth Day, Earth Fair 2018 will be <br />Sunday, Apri122nd. The event will be held on Earth Day for the first time. Feedback included: <br />more exposure for indoor vendors, structured crafts to reduce waste and save time, more signage <br />for market vendors, the creation of a"passport" promoting event exploration, a more "earth" <br />focused vendor selection, and an increased focus on obtaining event sponsorships. <br />It was agreed that planning meetings for Earth Fair 2017 will begin in January 2017 and will be <br />convened by James. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />NOCS School Garden Proiect <br />Stephanie updated the group on the Garden Council's progress. They are seeking to install a 100' <br />x 25' garden with fruit trees this August. They are requesting double-shredded mulch from the <br />City- James will follow up with the Forestry Foreman and help coordinate. T'he group agreed that <br />the Arts Commission could sponsor a fruit tree once more details are finalized. <br />Westside Flea Partnershin <br />The group discussed table opportunities at Saturday June 24, July 15, August 19 and September <br />23 events. James will send out a Doodle pole for the June 24' event to determine member <br />availability to staff table. Crafts and/or activities will be compiled closer to the event, based on <br />what is left over from previous events. The new sign and summer event rack cards will be <br />brought along to increase exposure for the Commission.
