CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF DECEMBEla 20, 2017 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Jackie Anderson, Laura Simna, Jenny Taylor, Janelle Zauner, Wilma Kepperley, Lauren <br />Suter, Leah Rogalski Davis <br />Absent: Annie Kilbane <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AlVD CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Leah moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of November 15, 2017, seconded by <br />Laura, motion passed unanimously. <br />OLD BUSII`1ESS <br />2017 Work Plan <br />North Olmsted Noel Recap <br />Members reviewed James' Noel recap document and added their observations. Jackie stated that <br />the NOHS After Prom committee did very well with their s'mores fundraiser and would like to <br />be involved in more Arts Commission activities throughout the year. Leah stated her preference <br />to increase the quality of food vendors at the 2018 event. Jenny suggested that the hot chocolate <br />station be moved indoors or utilize heat lamps to keep the volunteers warm in the shade. Leah <br />commented on the quality of the NOHS "Special Edition" choral performance, with James <br />confirming that they are being paid $200 for their services and will be returning in 2018. Jackie <br />and Laura suggested that the stage wall should be strategically decorated or marked to prevent <br />people from sitting on the wall and damaging it with their feet. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />2018 Work Plan <br />Programming discussion: Springvale Coffeehouse <br />Members reviewed Director Lieber's memo regarding the proposed Springvale Coffeehouse <br />event on February 9th° 7:00-8:30PM in the Springvale Clubhouse and unanimously agreed that <br />this event will go forward at the specified date and time. The stated format was also agreed upon <br />as the ideal arrangement for the first-time event: all-ages, all talent types, approximately 7-8 <br />performers with 10 minute sets and advanced sign-up. Leah and Laura agreed to be the "talent <br />coordinators" to receive inquiries, work with interested performers to get required information <br />and set the performance schedule. James will look into creating a WordPress sign up e-form for <br />signing up interested performers. T'he Commission will select performers at the January 17th <br />meeting, if there is enough interest at that point. Laura will bring a music stand for use by all <br />performers. Jackie and Jenny agreed to be emcees for the event to introduce performers, fill dead <br />air and talk about upcoming Commission events.
