The
dark color of the house will be kept, but the windows will be changed to be more operable. He
wanted to keep the cottage look to keep with the neighborhood's character. The bottom sashes of
the windows will be clear glass and the top sashes will have grilles as shown in the submitted
drawings. Mr. Schumann clarified that the applicant is flipping the home. Mr. Keehan stated that
the previous owner had a lot of cats so they are doing a lot of interior renovations as well. Mr.
Morse asked why the windows were changed. Mr. Keehan believed that removing the lower
grilles would allow more natural light into the home. The front door will not be changed due to
the curved arch. Mr. Schumann clarified that all of the windows on the house would be replaced.
Mr. Keehan explained that the window numbers submitted with the elevations correspond to the
manufacturer details. He added that some of the windows have to be changed to allow egress
from the bedrooms. The four season room will be left alone. Mr. Schumann believed the safety
of people in the bedrooms is more important than trying to keep the same look of the existing
windows. Mr. Keehan stated that the house was built in 1954.
