1_.-- _
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARTS COMMI5SION
MINUTES OF AUGUST 15, 2018
6:30PM
ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room.
Present: Jackie Chavez Anderson; Leah Rogalski Davis, Janelle Zauner, Jenny Taylor
Absent: Wilma Kepperley, Laura Simna, Annie Kilbane
Staff: Planner James Aspery
REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES
Approval of June 20th and July 18'h, 2018 meeting minutes was postponed until September.
OLD BUSINESS
North Olmsted Partv in the Park
The group shared their thoughts on the inaugural summer concert, agreeing that the event was a
success. Jackie thanked everyone for their work leading up to and during the event, noting that
the initial organization hurdles were worth the effort to host a successful event. James confirmed
that the event expenses totaled $2,155.25 and beer sales totaled $1,450 for a total event cost of
$705.25. It was estimated by the group the a couple hundred people attended the event. Leah
stated that the food trucks did well and suggested that the Commission seek to add another sweet
truck for the 2019 event. Janelle agreed with this comment, adding that it would help avoid
longer lines as the attendance increase. Jackie added that increased signage would benefit next
year's event. Other comments included the ease of warking with Fat Heads, the excellent sound
services provided by Ty Craemer and the desire to broaden musical acts to encompass a wider
variety of musical genres to appeal to a wider audience. It was agreed by all that the 2019 event
will be held on Saturday, July 27ffi.
Yoga in the Park
Jackie and Leah confirmed that 64 guests were counted at the event and attributed the slight
decrease in attendance to the heat and sun. Jackie stated that an earlier start time would not
change the presence of heat or sun during the class and preferred to move the class into the
Community Cabin in the event of another extremely warm day. It was agreed that the elass start
time and location would remain the same. Jackie and Leah added that a permanent banner hung
on the gazebo could advertise all yoga events and save members the hassle of setting the
Commission's pop-up sign at each event.
NEW BUSINESS
Chalkboard Sign
Leah confirmed that she will provide City staff with a drawing of the proposed sign before
supplies are ordered. The sign will be ready for use by this fall.
Citv Hall Art Gallerv
