CITY OF NORTH OLMS'TED ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARI) COUNCIL CHAMBERS ROOM WEDNESDAY MAY 18, 2005 MINUTES -5:30 PM 1. ROLL CALL: Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chairman B. Zergott, Board Members: J. Croolc, J. Werner ALSO PRESENT: Plaruling Director K. Wenger, Assistant Building Commissioner T. Rymarczylc and P1aruling Secretary L. McNabb ABSENT: J. Nader, T. Ulewicz GUEST: Greg Malone II. REVIEW AND CORItECTION OF MINUTES: B. Zergott moved to approve the minutes of April 20, 2005 with the following change. On the 3rd page, 3" paragraph, change green planters to concrete planters. J. Croolc seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. III. SIGNS IV. OLD BUSINESS V. NEW BUSINESS Smokev Bones Restaurant, 85785 I3roolcnark Road: (WRI) 4) Proposal consists of constructing a new 6,820 square foot building and site improvements. Note: Planning Commission tabled the proposal on 4/26/05., Linda Nunn, representative for Darden Restaurants wh'ich is the parent company for Smolcey Bones. Mrs. Nunn said quite a few changes were made from suggestions by the Planning Commission. Smolcey Bones is a.barbeque concept and is a sistericoncept to Olive Garden and Red Lobster. She submitted new drawings showing revised signage. The image they want to represent is more of a northern country lodge theme. The architectural element that are used are gabled elements with 12" peeled pine post for framing and stone around the. entry to pull in the lodge feeling and this theme carries throughout the interior. The exterior building materials will be a combination of stone. Initially, the stone on the exterior of the building was at the gabled peer elements; however, per the Planning Commission's recoinmendation it has been changed. Originally, it 'was a hardiplank green wainscote. Stone will be used tluoughout the exterior. The hardiplanlc siding will be a butterscotch earthtone color with trim in burgundy. The green shingle will remain on the gable elements. The dumpster enclosure and wallc in freezer coolers originally was going to be split face block. Planning Commission requested the service side of the building be made as attractive as the other sides. Therefore, the stone was continued, adding a horizontal line along, with vertical siding rather than the horizontal siding and the enclosure will be trimmed out with the red trim to give some depth. The material for the dumpster enclosure gate will be a metal steel framing panel with the posts and cross pieces being steel as well. The gate will be painted a butterscotclicolor. •" '! '
