CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />HELD IN OLD TOWN HALL <br />MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2005 <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL: . <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:11 pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Lang Commission members; L. Thogmartin, T. Schock, M. Davis, <br />D. Rerko, B. Lord and P. Schumann <br />ABSENT: Members; P. Barker and R. Bohlmann. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />T. Schock moved to approve the Landmarks minutes dated October 10, 2005 as written. M. <br />Davis seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />III. RECEPTION OF VISITORS: <br />Chairman Lang welcomed Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley and SITES Student Drew <br />Tedick to the meeting. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Matt Palmer; 25800 Butternut Ridge Road: <br />Proposal consists of a request for a letter of appropriateness for new roof shingles. <br />Mr. Lang reviewed that the applicant was not present however from the applicants <br />application he is seeking the commissions approve to change the style of shingles he would <br />be using on his home. The sample provided does not state the style, name or manufacture of <br />the product. The commissioners felt that until more information was provided by the <br />applicant the request should be tabled. The clerk was asked to contact the applicant to get <br />more information from him on the proposed style and type of shingle he would like to use. <br />D. Rerko moved to table Matt Palmer of 25800 Butternut Ridge Road until such time <br />the commission hears back from the applicant as to what style and type of shingle he <br />would like to use and when he would like to be placed back on the commission's <br />, agenda. M. Davis seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. Tabled <br />D. Rerko moved to remove his motion to table Matt Palmer of 25800 Butternut Ridge <br />Roads request as he was present. M. Davis removed her second on the motion which <br />was unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Schumann questioned the applicant's documents which state the shingles to be used <br />would have a ten year warranty which does not meet building codes. Mr. Palmer advised <br />that he would be using an Owens 30-year warranty and 10-year labor warranty type and the <br />series is Oak Mark. The board questioned if the home was built in the 1940's as the style <br />which the owner is proposing to use was not available. Mr. Palmer advised that the current <br />shingles on the home are no longer available and most of the neighboring homes use the <br />three dimensional style shingles. Board members felt that the proposed three dimensional <br />shingles were suitable for the home. Mr. Palmer indicated that the contractor stated that
